Small bowl
Tongs
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts about 6 oz each
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
Pat the chicken breasts dry and trim or flatten them so they are even in thickness.
In a bowl, whisk olive oil, soy sauce, ¼ cup BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Coat the chicken completely. Let it rest a few minutes if possible.
Preheat the air fryer to 370°F and lightly grease the basket.
Arrange chicken in a single layer and cook for 8 minutes.
Flip and cook another 8 to 10 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches about 160°F.
Brush the rest of the BBQ sauce over the chicken and cook for 1 to 3 more minutes until it reaches 165°F.
Rest the chicken for 3 to 5 minutes before slicing.
-
Thicker chicken breasts benefit from slicing or pounding first.
-
Always add BBQ sauce near the end to prevent burning.
-
Resting the chicken keeps it juicy. Don’t skip it.
-
Leftovers are great cold or reheated gently.
