- 8 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups water
- Ice and cold water for the ice bath
Pour 1 ½ cups of water into the Ninja Possible Cooker pot. Set the rack (grill insert) inside the basket and lower the basket into the pot.
Place the eggs on the rack in a single layer. Do not stack them.
Close the lid. Turn the dial to STEAM and set the timer to 10 minutes. Press Start/Stop to begin.
While the eggs are cooking, fill a large bowl generously with cold water and ice. Set it nearby.
When the timer beeps, carefully open the lid away from you to avoid the steam. Using tongs, immediately transfer the eggs to the ice bath.
Let the eggs rest in the ice bath for at least 5 minutes.
To peel, gently tap the egg all around on the counter, then start peeling from the wider end where the air pocket is. The shell should come right off.
Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
- Cold eggs are fine. You don't need to bring eggs to room temperature before cooking. I always cook mine straight from the fridge with great results at 10 minutes.
- Soft boiled version: Cut the steam time to 6–7 minutes for a jammy, slightly runny yolk. Still use the ice bath.
- Older eggs peel better. If you have the choice, eggs that are a few days old peel much more easily than super fresh ones. It's something about the pH of the white.
- Don't rush the ice bath. Five minutes minimum. Ten minutes is even better if you want the eggs to be cool enough to peel comfortably right away.
