Yep, this is exactly what it sounds like. Crispy, cheesy, nostalgic French bread pizza, but done in the air fryer in just minutes. The crust gets golden and crunchy, the cheese melts perfectly, and the toppings? Totally up to you. It's the kinda recipe that saves the day when you've got zero energy but still want something hot and homemade.

A slice of bread topped with melted cheese, green olives, tomato pieces, green chili, and onion, served on a white plate.

This one's a favorite around here. My boys can each customize their half (because of course they want totally different toppings), and I sneak in some veggies every time-hello green bell peppers and onions! The Ingredients

Baguette slices, shredded cheese, green olives, pizza sauce, sliced green bell pepper, onion, and a tomato arranged on a white surface.

French bread: Any long loaf will do! I grab one from the grocery store bakery section. Go for crusty but not too hard.

Olive oil: Brushed on the bread so it crisps up in the air fryer. You can skip it, but it's way better with.

Pizza sauce: Jarred, homemade, whatever you've got.

Pepperoni slices: Totally optional, but my guys are obsessed.

Mozzarella cheese: Shredded, melts perfectly. Don't skimp.

Green bell pepper: Adds crunch and color. Slice it thin so it cooks fast.

Onion: Sliced thin, white or red works.

Diced tomato: Fresh and juicy! Sprinkle on top or tuck under the cheese.

Olives (optional): Black or green. Adds that salty bite.

Step-by-Step Instructions for the Air Fryer French Bread Pizza

    1. Preheat your air fryer to 370ยฐF.

    2. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise, then cut each half into smaller pieces to fit your air fryer basket.

    3. Brush the cut sides with olive oil. Don't forget the edges! That's what gives it that crispy golden finish.

    4. Spread on the pizza sauce. Not too much or it'll get soggy.

    5. Add the toppings. Start with pepperoni, peppers, onions, and diced tomatoes.

    6. Sprinkle on the cheese. Cover everything up with a generous layer.

    7. Air fry in batches for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.

    8. Cool slightly before digging in-trust me, the roof of your mouth will thank you.

    Tips for Success

    • Watch the time. Every air fryer is a little different, so check at the 5-minute mark.
    • Don't overload with sauce. A thin layer is enough to give flavor without sogginess.
    • Cut the veggies thin. This helps them cook through quickly in the short air fryer time.
    • Pre-toast the bread (optional). If you love extra crisp, air fry the plain bread with olive oil for 2 minutes before adding toppings.

    Variations

    • Make it vegetarian: Skip the pepperoni and add mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini ribbons.
    • Go spicy: Add crushed red pepper flakes, spicy sausage, or banana peppers.
    • Mini pizzas: Use ciabatta rolls or sliced baguette for bite-sized versions-perfect for kids or parties!

    Serving Ideas

    Serve this with:

    • A side salad (maybe my Simple Spinach Arugula Salad with Lemon Dressing)
    • A bowl of tomato soup

    Storage Tips

    • Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
    • Reheat: Air fry at 350ยฐF for 3 to 4 minutes until warm and crisp again.
    • Freeze: Wrap unbaked pizzas tightly in foil and freeze. Air fry straight from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes to cook time.

    FAQs

What if I don't have pizza sauce?

No stress. Use marinara, tomato paste with Italian seasoning, or even pesto!

    Can I use gluten-free bread?

Absolutely! Just use your favorite gluten-free loaf and follow the same method.

Can I make these ahead for meal prep?

Totally. Assemble them in advance and keep them in the fridge (uncooked) for up to 24 hours. Air fry right before serving.
