These Easter cookie baskets are one of my favorite spring desserts because they look adorable but are shockingly easy to make. Soft sugar cookie cups baked right in a muffin tin, filled with a creamy berry center, and topped with pastel chocolate eggs. Sweet, creamy, and just a little tangy.

A cookie cup filled with pink frosting and topped with three pastel candy eggs, with additional candy eggs nearby on a white surface.

I love recipes like this because they feel special without being complicated. You bake the cookies once, press them while they're warm, and everything else is quick and fun. Perfect for Easter brunch, kids helping in the kitchen, or when you want something cute on the table without stress. Quick Answer: What Are Easter Cookie Baskets?

    • Time: About 25 minutes
    • Texture: Soft cookie cup with creamy filling
    • Flavor: Sweet vanilla cookie with lightly tangy berries
    • Best for: Easter desserts, kids, beginners
    • Method: Cookies baked in a muffin tin, pressed warm, then filled

Easter cookie baskets are baked sugar cookie cups made in a muffin tin, filled with berry cream cheese and topped with mini chocolate eggs.

    The ingredients

A flat lay of ingredients: a bowl of pastel candy eggs, a packet of Pillsbury Lucky Charms cookie dough, a bowl of cream cheese cubes, and a bowl of mixed blackberries and blueberries.

    Sugar Cookie Cups

    • Lucky Charms Pillsbury sugar cookie dough: This dough bakes evenly and holds its shape well
    • Mini Cadbury chocolate eggs: Any pastel chocolate eggs work

    Creamy Berry Filling

    • Cream cheese: Fully softened for a smooth filling
    • Mixed berries: Fresh or frozen, thawed and drained very well

For the ingredients quantities go to the recipe card below

    Steps-by-step Instructions for the

    1. Bake the cookies

Preheat the oven following the directions on the cookie dough package.
Lightly grease a muffin tin. Place one portion of cookie dough into each cavity.
Bake until the edges are set and lightly golden.

    2. Press to form the baskets

As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, press the center of each cookie down using the back of a spoon.
    This creates the basket shape.
Let the cookies cool completely in the muffin tin.

    3. Make the berry filling

In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese with mashed berries until smooth and evenly pink.
    Small berry bits are fine.

    4. Fill the cookie cups

Once the cookies are cool, spoon the berry cream into the center of each cookie basket.

    5. Decorate

Top each basket with mini chocolate eggs.
    You're done.

A muffin tin containing twelve portions of raw batter with colorful candy pieces, ready to be baked.
A hand presses a spoon into the center of baked cookies with colorful swirls, creating an indentation in each cookie on a baking tray.
A glass bowl containing thick, bright pink batter being mixed with a white spatula on a light background.

    Sophie Tips

    • I tested this with both fresh and frozen berries. Frozen berries work great but must be drained really well.
    • Press the cookies while they're still hot. If they cool too much, they crack.
    • If a cookie cracks anyway, don't worry. The filling hides it.
    • Honestly, kids love helping with the filling and decorating part.

    Variations

    • No berries: Skip the fruit and sweeten the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla.
    • Chocolate cookie cups: Use chocolate chip cookie dough.

    Serving Ideas

    • Add these to an Easter dessert board with brownies and fruit.
    • Serve after brunch with coffee or tea.
    • Use one basket per plate as a cute place-setting dessert.
    • Great for kids' Easter parties since they're easy to grab.

    Storage Tips

    • Store filled cookie baskets in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
    • For best texture, let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving.

    FAQ

Can I make Easter cookie baskets ahead of time?

Yes. Bake and shape the cookies one day ahead. Fill and decorate the day you serve.

Why did my cookie cups spread too much?

The dough may have been too warm or the pan wasn't greased well. Chilling the dough for 10 minutes helps.

Can I use homemade sugar cookie dough?

Yes, as long as it's a soft dough that spreads and doesn't bake up too firm.
