The ingredients

Here's what you need. No fancy stuff, just good ingredients that actually taste like something.
Frozen Berries - I use a mixed berry blend (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries). Frozen is key here. Don't use fresh or it won't spin properly.
Banana - One medium banana adds natural sweetness and makes it creamy. I always use a banana that's ripe but not mushy. You can use it fresh or frozen.
Greek Yogurt - Plain Greek yogurt gives you that thick texture and a protein boost. I use full-fat because it tastes better, but 2% works too.
Milk - Any milk works. I use whole milk most of the time, but almond milk or oat milk are great if that's what you've got.
Maple Syrup - Real maple syrup adds a warm sweetness that tastes way better than sugar. This is totally optional if your fruit is already sweet.

Steps-by-step Instructions for the Ninja Creami Smoothie Bowl
This is honestly the easiest recipe I make. No blender, no mess.
Add ingredients to the pint. Open your Ninja Creami pint container. Add the berries to the bottom first. Break the banana into chunks and drop them in. Pour in the greek yogurt . Drizzle the maple on top, then add the milk until you reach just below the max fill line.
Choose your path. Here's where you decide:
- Spin now: Put the lid on and go straight to the Ninja Creami. This works because everything is already cold.
- Freeze for later: Pop the pint in the freezer for 24 hours. This is what I do for meal prep.
Spin in the Ninja Creami. Place your pint (frozen or not) into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami. Lock it into place, then select the Smoothie Bowl function. Let it do its thing.
Check the texture. When it's done, take a look. If it's a little crumbly or powdery, don't panic. Just press the lid back down to flatten the top and re-spin on the same setting. It'll smooth right out.
Scoop and top. Scoop your smoothie bowl into a regular bowl. Add your favorite toppings (granola, sliced fruit, nut butter, whatever you're feeling), and you're done.

Sophie's Tips
Re-spin is your friend. If your bowl looks like snow after the first spin, that's normal. Just flatten it down and spin again. It happens to me all the time and it always fixes itself.
Use ripe fruit. The riper your banana and the sweeter your berries, the less maple syrup you'll need. Sometimes I skip the sweetener completely.
Break the banana into chunks. Don't try to fit a whole banana in there. Break it into 4-5 pieces so it spins evenly.
Make multiple at once. I usually fill 3-4 pints at the same time and keep them in the freezer. Then I just grab one whenever I want a smoothie bowl.

Variations
Chocolate Peanut Butter Bowl - Skip the berries. Use 2 frozen bananas, add 2 tablespoons cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon peanut butter.
Tropical Mango Bowl - Use frozen mango chunks and pineapple instead of berries. Add a splash of coconut milk instead of regular milk.
Green Smoothie Bowl - Add a handful of fresh spinach with the berries. You won't taste it, I promise.
Protein-Packed Bowl - Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder with the other ingredients.
Cherry Vanilla Bowl - Use frozen cherries instead of mixed berries and add ยฝ teaspoon vanilla extract.
Serving Ideas
Top this however you want. Here's what I usually do:
- Granola or crushed nuts for crunch
- Fresh sliced strawberries or blueberries
- A drizzle of almond butter or peanut butter
- Chia seeds or hemp hearts
- Shredded coconut
- A little extra maple syrup if I'm feeling fancy
My favorite combo is granola, sliced banana, and a swirl of almond butter. Cosmo (my other cat) tried to stick her paw in it once. She's not invited to breakfast anymore.
Storage Tips
In the freezer: Keep your prepared (unspun) pints in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Just spin them when you're ready to eat.
After spinning: Once you've spun it, eat it right away. It doesn't really re-freeze well. It gets icy and weird.
Leftovers: If you have leftover smoothie bowl after spinning, you can keep it in the freezer for a day or two, but the texture won't be as good.
FAQs
Can I use fresh fruit instead of frozen?
You can use fresh banana, but the berries need to be frozen. If you only have fresh berries, you'll need to freeze the mixture in the pint for 24 hours before spinning. The Ninja Creami needs frozen ingredients to create that thick texture.
Why is my smoothie bowl icy or powdery?
This usually means it needs a re-spin. Flatten the top and spin it again on the smoothie bowl setting. If it's still icy after that, add 1 tablespoon of milk, stir it in, and re-spin one more time.
Do I need a blender for this recipe?
Nope! That's the beauty of this recipe. You just add everything straight into the Ninja Creami pint and let the machine do all the work.
Can I make this without Greek yogurt?
You can use regular yogurt, but the texture won't be as thick. You could also try cottage cheese, which works surprisingly well.

Ninja Creami Smoothie Bowl
Equipment
- Ninja Creami ice cream maker
- Ninja Creami pint container (16 oz)
- Measuring cups and spoons
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
- 1 medium ripe banana fresh or frozen
- ยฝ cup plain Greek yogurt full-fat or 2%
- ยผ cup milk dairy or non-dairy
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup optional, adjust to taste
Instructions
- Layer ingredients in Ninja Creami pint. Add Greek yogurt to the bottom of your Ninja Creami pint container. Break banana into 4-5 chunks and add to the pint. Add frozen mixed berries on top. Drizzle maple syrup over the fruit, then pour milk over everything until you reach just below the max fill line.
- Decide your timeline. You have two options here:
- Spin immediately: Place lid on loosely and proceed to step 3. This works because the frozen berries keep everything cold enough to spin right away.
- Freeze for later: Place in freezer uncovered or with lid sitting loosely on top (not sealed tight) for 24 hours until frozen solid.
- Process in Ninja Creami. Remove lid if frozen. Place pint into the Ninja Creami outer bowl and lock it into the machine. Select the "Smoothie Bowl" function and press start. Let the machine complete its cycle.
- Check texture and re-spin if needed. Remove the outer bowl and check your smoothie bowl. If the texture appears powdery, crumbly, or icy, use the back of a spoon to flatten and smooth the top surface. Place back in the machine and select "Smoothie Bowl" again to re-spin. This second spin usually creates the perfect creamy texture.
- Serve and enjoy. Scoop the smoothie bowl into a serving bowl. Top with your favorite toppings like granola, fresh fruit, nut butter, chia seeds, or shredded coconut. Serve immediately with a spoon.
Notes
- No Blender Needed: Unlike most smoothie bowl recipes, this one requires zero blending. The Ninja Creami does all the mixing and blending work for you. Just layer the ingredients in the pint and spin.
- Frozen vs. Fresh Berries: Always use frozen berries for best results. The frozen fruit is what allows you to spin immediately without freezing the pint first. If using fresh berries, you must freeze the mixture for 24 hours before processing.
- Re-Spin is Normal: Don't worry if your first spin looks powdery or crumbly. This happens frequently with smoothie bowls. Simply flatten the top and re-spin. The second cycle almost always produces a perfectly creamy texture.
- Yogurt Goes First: Always add the yogurt to the bottom of the pint first. This helps create a smoother blend and prevents the ingredients from getting stuck
